Learning to drive in Tarragindi

Tarragindi is one of the smaller, quieter suburbs on Brisbane's south side. Only two roads, Toohey Road and Cracknell Road, carry any real traffic through it, and both are short, so almost everywhere else is calm residential street. This close to the city that's genuinely rare, and it's ideal for a beginner: you can spend your first lessons getting steering, braking and gear sense right with very little coming the other way.

When you're ready for busier conditions, Toohey Road and the streets around Wellers Hill ease you into real traffic, roundabouts and give-way decisions. And because Tarragindi backs straight onto Greenslopes, Annerley and Moorooka, we can widen your lessons into proper south-side traffic exactly when you're ready for it, not before.

Your test at Greenslopes

Here's Tarragindi's quiet advantage: the Greenslopes practical test centre (in the Greenslopes Shopping Mall on Logan Road) is only about 2.8 km away, closer than almost any suburb we teach. The streets you practise on are, in large part, the streets your examiner will use, so test day tends to feel like just another lesson on familiar roads. TMR doesn't tie you to a centre, so Sherwood (about 8 km) is there if you want it, but for most Tarragindi learners there's little reason to look past Greenslopes. Every test-day package includes a warm-up lesson and the car.
