Learning around Sunnybank Hills

Where you'll practise, and where you'll test

Sunnybank Hills is large, so we plan lessons around where you live. Here are the schools we pick up from, a few of the suburb's many parks and quiet streets where beginners find their feet, and the practical test centres closest to you.

Learning to drive in Sunnybank Hills

Sunnybank Hills is one of the larger, more spread-out suburbs we cover, with hundreds of estate streets, courts and crescents and an unusual amount of parkland threaded between them. Its main roads, Jackson Road, Hellawell Road and Gowan Road, are connectors rather than big arterials, so there's an enormous amount of low-pressure room to get the fundamentals solid before you take anything busy on.

That layout genuinely suits nervous and first-time drivers. We can spend whole early lessons on the quiet streets around Sunnybank Hills State School, then start linking Jackson Road and Hellawell Road together as your confidence grows, building toward the longer drive out to the Logan Central test centre in stages rather than all at once.

Where you'll sit the test

Your test at Logan Central

The nearest practical test centre to Sunnybank Hills is Logan Central (43–45 Jacaranda Avenue), about 9.8 km south. It's a slightly longer run than some suburbs, so we build it into your lessons on purpose: getting you comfortable on the roads and roundabouts around the centre well before the day, rather than meeting them for the first time on your test. TMR lets you sit anywhere, so Greenslopes and Sherwood (both around 11–12 km) are options too, and every test-day package includes a warm-up lesson and the car.
