How many automatic lessons will I need?

It depends where you're starting from. Total beginners usually want 8 to 10 lessons to get test-ready, learners with some practice do well on a 5-pack, and if you're nearly there a few polishing lessons can be enough. Use the estimator above for a quick steer.

Is automatic really easier than manual?

For most people, yes. With no clutch and no gears to change, there's less to think about, so you can focus on the road and usually get test-ready faster. A manual licence lets you drive anything, but plenty of Brisbane learners never need one.

Can I switch to manual later?

Absolutely. Every RAC instructor teaches both, so if you start in an automatic and later decide you want a manual licence, we'll get you there. Nothing you learn in an auto goes to waste.

Do the lessons count toward my logbook?

Yes, and for triple. In Queensland each hour with an accredited instructor logs as three hours, up to 10 lessons, so 10 lessons add 30 hours to your logbook. Your instructor signs it off on the spot.
